X-Payments is a PA-DSS certified web-based payment application designed for merchants who need to accept credit card payments online and who require compliance with the PCI DSS standard. X-Payments can be used together with major shopping carts including:

While processing credit card payments, X-Payments works as an intermediary between a store on one side and payment gateways and 3D-Secure systems on the other side. See detailed explanation at X-Payments:How It Works and the diagram below.
X-Payments has a history of versions successfully validated according to PCI Council’s PA-DSS standard. You can find these versions on the list of PA-DSS certified applications on the PCI Council website by doing a search for the application name "X-Cart Payments".
You can find out what X-Payments versions are recommended for new deployments/are acceptable for existing deployments by filtering the search results using the respective option. For example, at the time of the writing of this article, the most advanced X-Payments version recommended for all new deployments is X-Payments 3.1:
